She also participated in a wilderness leadership bootcamp in the American Rocky Mountains.

Passionate about politics, she interned in the past at the French assembly, where she was in charge of the communication of the deputy. President of the MUN (Model United Nations) association of her school she organized several MUN in the world including one in her school with more than 350 high school students participating.

Jevin Hodge was born in Tempe, Arizona and was raised by Berdetta Hodge, a single mother and his role model. Berdetta, the first black woman elected in Tempe, is the President of the Tempe Union High School Governing Board and instilled in Jevin and his brother a love for service and community. Jevin attended McClintock High School and has a degree in Public Policy from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Professionally, Jevin Hodge is the National Engagement Director of LINK Strategic Partners, a strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and social impact consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. Jevin works with community partners to maximize community impact by governments, non-profits, and businesses. His clients have included the Citi Open Tennis Tournament, the Urban Alliance, the District of Columbia, College Success Arizona, Austin Independent School District, Lyft, and Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership.

Jevin Hodge presently serves as President of the Booker T. Washington Child Development Center, a Head Start provider of early childhood education serving low-income families in the Phoenix-area. He is also past President of the Tempe Union High Schools Education Foundation, which succeeded in securing millions of dollars in public funding for East Valley schools. He currently sits on the board of Best Buddies Arizona, which serves youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as on the Arizona board of US Global Leadership Coalition, which strengthens Arizona’s economy and presence on the world stage. He is also a member of Suns Charities 88, the philanthropic arm of the Phoenix Suns which brings together business leaders to invest in community development.

p>As a youth, Jevin Hodge had a defining passion for public service. In high school he authored legislation creating student community service requirements that was passed unanimously by the state legislature. As a college student, he coordinated programs for the Boys and Girls Club of the East Valley and started the Manifesto Project, which worked to prepare Arizona’s young talent and solve the issue of community brain drain. He also served as the Millennial spokesperson for the Can Kicks Back, part of the Campaign to Fix the Debt. He was also the Director of Public Relations and national board member for Common Sense Action, a national organization that bring Millennials to the table in national and local policymaking.

Jevin Hodge formerly served as the Vice-Chairman of the Arizona Democratic Party, through which he spent three years traveling up and down Arizona to engage people civically and learn about the short- and long-term challenges facing those who work, study, and live in our state. Jevin was elected by the ADP’s State Committee twice to serve as the youngest African American state party official in the country. In his capacity as Arizona Democratic Party Vice Chairman, Jevin Hodge organized local town halls and roundtables with officials ranging from a former US Attorney General to local chiefs of police and state legislators. Jevin was recently recognized for his civic efforts by the City of Tempe, whose Human Relations Commission awarded him with an award named after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this year. He is also a recipient of the Roy Wilkins Service Award, a lifetime achievement recognition by the NAACP of the East Valley. He was also recognized for his leadership by Grambling State University, a historically black college that invited Jevin to keynote their 2018 MLK Jr. Day celebration.

Jevin Hodge was the 2020 Democratic Nominee to serve on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors from District 1, which includes residents of Tempe, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, and Queen Creek. He ran to represent nearly one million constituents, which is more than virtually every Member of Congress, ten senators, and five governors. His race was the equivalent to running for Governor of South Dakota. Jevin’s race experienced a historic 84% turnout in 2020, with over 220,000 ballots cast by citizens in District One. Unfortunately, Jevin lost by just 403 votes, a difference of less than 0.1% from his opponent. Had he been victorious, Jevin Hodge would have been the first African American person to serve in this position and would have been the youngest major county official in the United States.

Jevin Hodge’s candidacy received historic endorsements Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, Mayor Steven Reed, Mayor Michael Tubbs and several other nationally recognized leaders. Locally, his candidacy had the support of several labor unions, women’s groups, environmental protection organizations, and distinguished community leaders. His historic candidacy garnered national attention and he received thousands of small-dollar donations from Arizonans and people in virtually every state recognizing his capacity to effect positive change in Maricopa County.
